Garage Door Fix Terms Of Service

Effective Date: February 2026

Before using our services, please read the following Terms of Service carefully. By scheduling an appointment or using our services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these terms.

1. Service Requests & Scheduling
1.1 Booking an Appointment

You may request service through our website, phone, or email. We will make our best effort to schedule an appointment at a time convenient for you; however, availability is subject to our service team’s schedule.

1.2 Accurate Information

By scheduling an appointment, you agree to provide accurate and complete information regarding your garage door issue, including the make and model of the door if requested.

1.3 Site Preparation

It is your responsibility to ensure the driveway and garage area are clear of vehicles and obstructions prior to our technician’s arrival. Failure to do so may result in rescheduling or additional charges for time required to clear the area.

1.4 Restricted Access Areas

For safety and liability reasons, Garage Door Fix technicians will not enter attics or crawlspaces to facilitate repairs or installations. All work must be performed in accessible and safe areas.

1.5 Snow and Ice Removal

The garage threshold must be clear of snow and ice upon our arrival. If our technician must remove snow or ice to access or service the door, additional charges will apply. Snow and ice removal is outside our scope of services.

2. On-Site Authorization
2.1 Designated Adult On-Site

The individual present during our service visit will be considered the designated “adult on-site,” even if they did not book the appointment. This person is authorized to approve work and settle the invoice. Adult children and spouses are authorized to make service decisions in collaboration with our technicians.

2.2 Remote Authorization

If the person who booked the appointment will not be on-site and requests a call from our technician upon arrival, they must be available to take the call promptly. Our technicians cannot wait extended periods for approval. At our discretion, we will either:

  • Proceed with the work as booked and invoice accordingly, or
  • Charge waiting time fees per Section 3.4
2.3 Workspace Safety

For the safety of both our technicians and clients, the area in which our technician is working is their designated workspace. Residents may be asked to remain inside during service. This ensures compliance with insurance and liability guidelines and allows our technicians to work without distraction.

3. Cancellation, No-Show & Waiting Time Policies
3.1 Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please notify us at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment. Cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance may be subject to a cancellation fee based on the nature of the service and costs incurred.

3.2 Late Cancellation Fee

If we arrive and confirm that on-site conditions align with the original quote but you choose not to proceed, we reserve the right to charge a late cancellation fee of $50.

3.3 No-Show Policy

A no-show occurs when our technician is dispatched to or arrives at the scheduled location and the client is not present or has not provided property access.

  • No-Show Fee: $50, payable before rescheduling
  • Repeated no-shows may require a deposit or full prepayment for future services
3.4 Waiting Time Policy

If our technician arrives on time and must wait for the client or property access:

  • First 15 minutes: No charge
  • After 15 minutes: $50 per 15-minute increment
  • Waiting time fees are due in addition to service charges
3.5 Discretionary Waiver

Garage Door Fix reserves the right to waive cancellation, no-show, or waiting time fees in exceptional circumstances at our discretion.

4. Estimates, Pricing & Payment
4.1 Pricing

Standard prices are posted on our website but are subject to change without notice. Prices at the time of service will apply and will be confirmed by the technician with the adult on-site before work begins.

4.2 Estimates

We provide free over-the-phone estimates based on information and photographs you provide. These estimates are subject to change upon our technician’s arrival if:

  • Conditions differ from what was visible in photographs
  • Information provided was inaccurate or incomplete
  • Changes occurred between the estimate and our arrival
  • Structural issues or additional factors are discovered

The technician will notify you immediately and obtain approval for any adjustments.

4.3 Estimate Acceptance

Once you accept an estimate, it constitutes a legally binding contract. No changes can be made without mutual approval. Any corrections or upgrades after acceptance will be at your expense.

4.4 Payment Terms

Payment is due upon completion of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance.

Accepted Payment Methods:

  • Cash
  • Debit
  • Credit card
  • Email transfer
  • Pre-approved checks (commercial clients only)
4.5 Acceptance of Work

By paying the invoice, you acknowledge that the work has been completed to your satisfaction. Payment indicates acceptance of the completed work, and no further adjustments will be made unless agreed upon in writing.

4.6 Late Payment

Outstanding invoices may incur late payment fees to cover additional costs, including third-party collection services or court fees. If payment is not received within agreed terms, we reserve the right to suspend further service until the balance is settled. Please contact our management team promptly if you encounter payment issues.

5. Warranty Policy
5.1 Standard Warranty Coverage

We stand behind the quality of our work. Unless otherwise specified, all repairs and installations include a one-year warranty on parts and labor for materials we supply and install.

5.2 Warranty Period

The warranty begins on the date of initial installation and is valid for the specified duration. The warranty end date is calculated from the installation date and is not extended by subsequent visits or warranty services.

5.3 Warranty Service Hours

Outside of emergencies (determined at our discretion), warranty service is available Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Requests outside these hours will be considered case-by-case.

5.4 What Is NOT Covered

Sensor Alignment: Sensor alignment is never covered under warranty. Sensors are sensitive to environmental changes and physical contact. It is common for sensors to become misaligned after repairs due to increased garage activity. We test open/close functionality with you before leaving. Once we depart, sensor maintenance is your responsibility.

Weather Seals: Materials and workmanship for weatherstripping and rubber seals are covered, but we cannot warranty their ability to keep the garage completely sealed against vermin, weather, or water. Performance depends on floor level, frame condition, and concrete grade.

Exclusions:

  • Damage from misuse, neglect, accidents, or improper maintenance
  • Acts of nature (storms, floods, earthquakes, environmental factors)
  • Normal wear and tear (scratches, dents, paint fading)
  • Components not explicitly addressed in our service
5.5 Warranty Void Conditions

The warranty is void if:

  • Parts installed by Garage Door Fix are modified, altered, or tampered with
  • Another company services the door
  • The homeowner adjusts, programs, or modifies components related to our service
  • Required maintenance is not performed
5.6 Limitation of Coverage

Repair or replacement of a specific component does not guarantee the overall lifespan or health of the entire garage door system. Only the specific parts we installed are covered.

5.7 Reporting Issues

If you discover an issue with your garage door or components:

  1. Cease use of the door immediately
  2. Contact Garage Door Fix promptly

We are not liable for additional damage or injury caused by continued use after an issue is identified. Repairs needed due to continued use of a malfunctioning door will be at your expense.

5.8 Complimentary Services

Occasionally, we may perform complimentary services as a goodwill gesture. These services carry no warranty or guarantee and are not subject to the same terms as paid services.

6. New Garage Door Installation Warranty
6.1 Coverage

New garage door installations are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship. Duration and coverage will be specified at the time of installation.

6.2 Installation Standards

The warranty is contingent upon installation being performed by authorized Garage Door Fix technicians in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.

6.3 Leveling and Alignment

The installed garage door will be leveled and aligned properly, even if the floor, building structure, or frame is not perfectly level. Our technicians will make necessary adjustments during installation to maintain warranty coverage.

6.4 Maintenance Requirement

To maintain warranty coverage, you must perform regular maintenance as recommended by Garage Door Fix and/or the manufacturer. Failure to perform required maintenance may void the warranty.

6.5 Warranty Claims

Contact Garage Door Fix promptly for any warranty claims. We will assess the issue and, if covered, repair or replace affected components as necessary.

6.6 Limitation of Liability

Our liability under the installation warranty is limited to repair or replacement of defective materials or workmanship as determined by Garage Door Fix.

7. Uneven Floors and Frames
7.1 Structural Limitations

In cases where the floor, building structure, or frame is not perfectly level, our ability to achieve perfect door alignment may be limited.

7.2 Our Approach

Our technicians will make every reasonable effort to level the garage door within existing structural constraints. The door will be leveled to function properly.

7.3 Aesthetic Considerations

The appearance of the door in relation to an uneven floor or frame may result in gaps or visual irregularities. These issues are beyond our control and result from pre-existing structural conditions.

7.4 Additional Work

Any work required to rectify structural issues (leveling floors, reframing openings, etc.) is not included in standard installation and is your responsibility at your own expense.

8. Parts Breakage During Service
8.1 Risk Acknowledgment

During repairs, certain parts may break due to pre-existing wear, damage, or the nature of the repair process.

8.2 Our Responsibility

Garage Door Fix is not responsible for parts that break during service. We will notify you immediately if this occurs and discuss necessary steps, which may include additional repairs or replacements at your expense.

9. Special Orders
9.1 Holding Period

Special orders will be held for 14 business days. If not picked up or scheduled for delivery within this period, items may be restocked or resold unless storage fees are paid.

9.2 Non-Refundable Deposits

Deposits for special orders are non-refundable. Storage and restocking fees apply as outlined in your contract.

9.3 Restocking Fees

Reselling the door or other items does not negate your responsibility for restocking fees as agreed in the original contract.

10. Deposits
10.1 Non-Refundable

Deposits made for services, parts, or special orders are non-refundable.

10.2 Purpose

The deposit secures your place in our schedule and covers initial administrative and logistical costs.

10.3 Cancellation

If you cancel or change service after making a deposit, the deposit amount is forfeited.

11. Material Delivery Times
11.1 Estimates Only

Time estimates for delivery of new materials are approximate and subject to change.

11.2 Factors Beyond Our Control

Delivery times are influenced by supplier availability, shipping logistics, and unforeseen delays.

11.3 Communication

We will communicate any changes in delivery times promptly and work with you to adjust schedules as necessary.

12. Safety & Compliance
12.1 Canadian Safety Regulations

Garage Door Fix adheres strictly to Canadian safety regulations during all installations and repairs, including proper installation of safety sensors and maintaining safe job sites.

12.2 Client Responsibilities

You are expected to maintain a safe environment for our technicians, including keeping the job site clear of unnecessary obstacles and hazards.

12.3 Workspace Protocol

You must provide adequate space for the technician to work efficiently and safely during installation or repair.

13. Limitation of Liability
13.1 Misuse and Improper Operation

Garage Door Fix is not liable for damages or injuries resulting from misuse, abuse, or improper operation of garage doors or related equipment.

13.2 Damages

We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use or inability to use our services or any products or parts we provide.

13.3 Liability Cap

Our liability is limited to the amount paid by the customer for the specific service or repair in question.

14. Right to Refuse Service
14.1 Values Alignment

Garage Door Fix values integrity, respect, and professionalism. We reserve the right to decline service if we determine that providing service would compromise our principles.

14.2 Examples

We may exercise this right in situations involving:

  • Discriminatory behavior
  • Abusive or threatening language
  • Unreasonable demands
  • Any behavior that contradicts our commitment to a safe, respectful, and professional environment
14.3 Refunds

If we decline service, we will inform you of our decision and refund any advance payments for the declined service.
